A COA is a lab's test result for one specific batch. Not a promise. Not a spec sheet. Here's how to read one — and how to catch a fake.

Purity alone proves nothing

Every vendor quotes 99%. Four things matter more.

Identity (MS)

HPLC measures how much. Mass spec confirms what. A vial can be 99% pure — of the wrong peptide.

🧫

Endotoxin

Bacterial fragments that survive sterile filtration and never show on HPLC. The most common cause of results you can't reproduce.

⚖️

Net peptide content

A 30mg vial holds water and salts too. Real peptide may be 24mg. Gross weight quietly ships you less.

💧

Water & solvents

Moisture affects stability and accurate dosing. Residual synthesis solvents are their own contamination issue.

How to verify any COA

Match the batch number to your vialA COA for a different batch tells you nothing. Most skipped check, most exploited.

Search the lab yourselfNot via a link the vendor gave you. A real lab has an address, accreditation and a phone that reaches a person.

Email the lab directlyAsk if they issued that report number. One email settles it. Nearly every fake fails here.

Look for the actual graphsReal COAs include the chromatogram and spectrum images. Typed numbers alone take five minutes to fabricate.

Red flags

How fake and borrowed COAs usually show up.

✕Borrowed — someone else's batch, or the raw supplier's, passed off as yours.
✕Recycled — same COA for every batch, for years. Batch number never changes.
✕Edited — real report, altered purity figure or company name.
✕Invented lab — official letterhead, zero search results.
✕Cropped graphs — headers and timestamps cut off, removing what identifies the sample.
✕"On request only" — if a COA can't survive being published, ask why.
